2024 Rice Festival Events

February 28th: "Introducing The North Carolina Rice Festival—An Evening of Films & Discussion"

This new event was designed for those “few and new” who had not yet heard about or attended previous years’ Rice Festival events or who were unfamiliar with the significant role rice—or “Carolina Gold”—has played in Brunswick County’s agricultural and cultural history. Two outstanding video-documentaries locally produced by the Festival organizers were screened along with some good Gullah Geechee appetizers served.

February 29th:
"Ancestry Reveal" Event


For a second time, local residents' ancestral connections between their families and the people of West Africa's "Rice Coast" were unveiled with help from African Ancestry’s president/CEO Dr. Gina Paige.

March 1st:
Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Gala Dinner & VIP Reception


This year's Gala again featured "edu-tainment" by renowned Gullah Geechee performing artists and a mouth-watering, Lowcountry-inspired menu from award-winning Chef and Festival Culinarian Keith Rhodes of Wilmington's Catch Restaurant, along with a Silent Auction. Our premier fundraising event did not dissappoint!
